I've been a hopeless romantic since birth. I grew up in the Midwest with plenty of time on my hands for dreaming. Living in the country could be boring, but books took me away on exciting adventures. When I was thirteen, I discovered young adult romance novels, and I've been hooked on romance ever since.
All of those romance novels, Harlequin in particular, formed my ideas and expectations of what love should be. The heroines provided me with powerful role models. During my senior year of high school, I realized the man of my dreams was right in front of me and promptly fell in love. We were married a few years later, and we've been together almost twenty years now.
Becoming a romance novelist never entered my mind when I tried to figure out what I was going to be when I grew up. Strangely enough, I thought I wanted to be an Electrical Engineer. Upon graduating magna cum laude with a BSEE, I began my career as a Control Systems Engineer.
I became restless. For a few years, I toyed with the idea of writing romance novels. One day, I decided it was time to get serious. I joined a local writing group, Pen To Paper, and began writing my first novel, a contemporary category romance.
